About the Role

The Digital Accessibility & UX Specialist advances APH’s commitment to delivering accessible, inclusive, and user-centered digital experiences. Reporting within the Innovation & Strategy division, this role serves as a subject matter resource on web accessibility standards and user experience best practices.

This position focuses on execution, implementation support, and continuous improvement across APH’s digital platforms. The Specialist conducts accessibility reviews, recommends actionable improvements, and collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to enhance usability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct accessibility audits of APH websites and digital content to assess compliance with WCAG 2.1, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
  • Document findings and provide clear, actionable remediation recommendations.
  • Partner with designers, developers, content creators, and IT staff to implement accessibility and UX enhancements.
  • Develop, implement, and support ongoing website improvements within a WordPress environment, applying semantic HTML, SEO, and accessibility best practices.
  • Review and test new features, page layouts, and content updates to ensure alignment with accessibility guidelines.
  • Assist in developing wireframes, mockups, and content structures that promote usability and inclusive design.
  • Monitor and analyze web and digital campaign performance using tools like Google Search Console and Google Analytics. 
  • Track and analyze website performance metrics (e.g., GA4) and translate insights into recommendations that strengthen digital engagement.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to website accessibility and functionality.
  • Participate in SCRUM meetings and collaborate with IT teams and external vendors on web-related initiatives.
  • Works in tandem with the Digital Strategy Manager to foster collaboration across departments ensuring timely execution of digital campaigns and initiatives. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of evolving accessibility standards, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in digital communications, web content management, accessibility, UX, or a related area.
  • Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 guidelines and web accessibility standards, including experience conducting accessibility audits and supporting remediation efforts.
  • Experience managing web content within a WordPress environment, with familiarity in semantic HTML and accessibility-focused content development best practices.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze website data and apply insights to improve usability and overall user experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Office 365, including accessible document creation best practices.

Note: A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered when competency in the role is demonstrated.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, ADS) or active progress toward certification.
  • Familiarity with ticket tracking systems such as Jira.
  • Training in WordPress best practices.
  • Basic graphic design skills and experience optimizing images for web use.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in digital accessibility and user experience.

Compensation & Benefits

$58,000 - $72,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
