Position Summary
We are seeking experienced candidates for a Senior Planner position to play a key role in planning initiatives that contribute to the sustained growth and vitality of Portland. Tasks include leading an impending update to the City’s comprehensive plan, Portland’s Plan 2030, including extensive research, public engagement, and policy development. The Senior Planner will also have opportunities to support transportation-, housing-, and climate-related work by contributing to major multi-modal transportation plans, housing analysis, and resilience planning efforts. Lastly, the Senior Planner will support the Department’s role in reviewing major developments, with a focus on large transformational mixed use projects.
Required Skills & Experience
Senior Planners are offered a flexible hybrid schedule of two remote/three in-office days per week.

Salary & Benefits
This is a union position, Pro-Tech (Grade 9) – starting salary range of $70,941 to $79,833 per year. Additionally, a 6% differential will be paid upon presentation to the City of certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners as a Certified Planner.

- Excellent written and oral communication, project management, meeting facilitation and community engagement, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and graphic skills.
- Master’s degree in Planning or closely related field and 4-6 years of Planning experience or equivalent combination.
