Land Use Director – Town of Lunenburg

The Town of Lunenburg seeks qualified applicants for the Land Use Director position.
Under the general direction of the Town Manager this position serves as the Town Planner and Director of Economic Development and plays a central role in shaping land use policy, guiding development, expanding the commercial tax base, and preserving the community’s rural character and historic charm. The Director supports the Planning Board in all statutory functions. The Director assists in coordinating the activities of all other Boards and Departments involved in regulating land use and land development in town, such as the Zoning Board of Appeals and Conservation Commission. The position also coordinates with Sewer Commission and Department of Public Works on utility, storm water management, drainage, road extension or development and/or other related development matters. Attends evening meetings as needed (typically four/month). Bachelor’s Degree in community or regional planning, with a specialization in land use, environmental planning, public administration, or economic development, plus seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning and/or economic development department, or any other equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference given to candidates with a Master’s Degree in Community or Regional Planning or related field and/or AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) Certification. Storm Water/environmental planning credentials a plus.
Comprehensive understanding of municipal land use law, zoning, and subdivision.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), benefited position. Pay Range: $48.79/hr – $60.02/hr. Employment Agreement possible.
