The Town of Westborough Planning Board seeks candidates for the position of Director of Planning to perform highly skilled administrative, supervisory and technical work in the monitoring, development and implementation of short-, intermediate-, and long-term planning initiatives in accordance with policies set by the Planning Board, Town bylaws and state laws. This position is appointed by, and reports to, the five-member elected Planning Board.

The next Director will inherit a portfolio of high-profile work, including:

• The Downtown Improvement Project, a redesign of the Main/Milk/South/Brigham Street rotary.
• The 495/Route 9 Gateway Initiative, a joint corridor effort with neighboring Southborough.
• A new Active Transportation Plan guiding walking and walking townwide.
• Recent downtown zoning reform that modernized the Downtown Business District, overlay districts and all.
• An active pipeline of subdivision, site plan, and special permit review.
  
  

Westborough is financially strong with an AAA bond rating, a vibrant downtown, a supportive Planning Board, a talented staff, and only the usual amount of spirited public comment. Salary is $101,896 to $132,695, and the role is open until filled, with the search committee convening in late June.
