Community Planning Administrator – Town of Bedford

The Town of Bedford is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Community Planning Administrator. The Community Planning Administrator will perform a wide range of administrative, clerical, and program-support duties on behalf of the Planning Department. In addition to providing core administrative support, the position assists with coordination, data tracking, and small projects in support of community planning, sustainability, housing, and economic development initiatives. The position will provide support to the Planning Board, specifically with posting of agendas in accordance with Open Meeting Law, assembling meeting packets, serving as recording secretary, which requires attendance at meetings. The position also provides administrative support to the Planning Director and may also provide project and program support to the Community Planning & Sustainability Manager and the Housing and Economic Development Director.
Candidates for this position must have strong customer service, communication and organizational skills. A High School diploma or equivalent plus one (1) to three (3) years of related experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. A basic understanding of municipal government operations, with familiarity in planning, housing, or economic development is preferred. Candidates should be able to manage multiple tasks, have strong attention to detail, and have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, officials and the public. A strong knowledge of office equipment and standard software, including Microsoft Office Suite, is required.
This is a 35 hrs./wk. exempt position. Town Hall is open Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed on Fridays. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $66,800 – $73,000, depending on qualifications.
