Reports to: Accounting Manager
Summary: Follow detailed and standardized procedures in performing routine accounting operations. Perform a variety of support duties related to ACH, EFT, Card and Draft activity within the credit union.
Essential Functions:
· Perform a variety of activities to assist the accounting manager in maintaining the financial, statistical, and accounting records of the credit union.
· Enter data into accounting systems and generate reports on a daily basis. Prepare various financial, regulatory, and special reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis as requested by management.
· Process ACH, draft, wires, and other member electronic transactions per procedures.
· Journalize all necessary transactions and prepare reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledgers and other items as required.
· Process accounts payable, prepaid amortization, fixed asset depreciation, employee expense matching, and other accounting functions as assigned.
· Maintain working knowledge of various account software programs.
· Protect credit union’s value by keeping information confidential and remain cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and all pertinent regulations.
· Accomplish accounting and credit union goals.
· Maintain knowledge of credit union products and services, sufficient to identify and assist with member and prospective member needs.
· At higher levels, may assist with monthly trial balances and financial analysis.
· Successful completion of required training and any certifications, (ex. AAP) within one year, or other established time frame, of accepting the position.
· Assists in training other staff members on primary duties and serves as a backup for other staff as necessary.
· Cooperate with other department personnel to ensure a “team effort” and prompt member service.
· Works independently and maintains control of all assigned tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner. Takes responsibility, initiative, and ownership.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
· Computer keyboard proficiency.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
· Strong math and communication skills.
· Reading comprehension skills strong enough to read and interpret financial documents.
· Able to work independently with supervision available to address non-routine questions.
· Able to make routine choices within established procedures.
Education and Experience:
· 2-year or higher degree in Accounting or related field is desirable, but not required.
· Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification may be required.
· 2 to 5 years of experience in a financial institution is desired.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include formulas and tables in Excel.
· Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise levels.
· May require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.01 - $26.51 per hour
