What do we do?

Our Mission at APC is to help patients seeking relief from pain, numbness, and tingling sensations that are often related to neuropathic pain or neuropathy, among many other forms of chronic pain. The surgery center performs pain management related procedures including injections and open surgical cases with general anesthesia.

Our clinical multidisciplinary approach to care delivers the correct intervention to each and every patient; each and every time. Our treatments are focused on improving functionality and restoring a more meaningful lifestyle. APC is seeking an individual who is wanting to learn, develop, and grow as a Registered Nurse in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting.

Job Summary

This position will include pre-operative prep, OR procedural support, and post-operative recovery for patients undergoing nerve blocks RFA and minimal invasive spinal procedures such as stimulation, pump, Vertiflex, ketamine infusions, and other cutting edge minimally invasive procedures. The ideal candidate will enjoy working directly with patients and team members in a fast-paced environment, is detailed oriented, and offers top quality customer service to our patients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)

  • Perform delegated independent functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards as observed by the RN or LPN.
  • Accurately and completely documents patient care in accordance with facility policy/procedures and state standards.
  • Demonstrates a true working knowledge of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system through effective documentation in the EMR as confirmed through quality assurance of chart entry by Manager and capable of performing appropriate documentation on paper record if needed. 
  • Completes patient chart prep as assigned. Answers phone lines as assigned and triages effectively, dispatching to the appropriate areas 100% of the time.
  • Utilizes patient assessment to determine appropriate nursing interventions with all calls and care.
  • Competently observes sterile field and sterilization guidelines as outlined in the Infection Prevention Policy Manual and follows good hand hygiene, safe sharps, and blood-born pathogen prevention guidelines.
  • Demonstrates competency through consistent appropriate completion of the Safe Surgery checklist components, monitors patient vitals during conscious sedation, circulates through various procedures, assists with transporting, positioning, safety and monitor placement, and assisting the physician. 
  • Demonstrates competency through consistent appropriate provision of post-operative assessment, medication administration in accordance with Physician orders, IV removal, and provides complete discharge instructions to patient in a meaningful and understandable way for the patient to understand and follow. 
  • Demonstrates competency through consistent appropriate provision of admission assessments, Lab/medication assessment, aseptic IV starts, and medical administration.
  • Knowledgeable in medication administration, dosage, routes, documentation, and follows all guidelines.
  • Consistently follows policy & procedures regarding the storage and documentation of medications.
  • Prepares medication as directed following infection control guidelines as necessary.
  • Personally responsible to ensure all actions taken and care provided is in compliance with state and federal code and that all necessary patient care is rendered as appropriate.
  • Ensures timely and thorough completion of logs, assists with policy development or updating as requested.
  • Willingness and ability to complete non-nursing tasks as is appropriate to the complete functioning of a small ambulatory surgery center.
  • Responsible for the safety, privacy, and comfort of the patient during pre-op, post-op, intra-op, and transport, and practices universal precautions and infection control measures consistently.
  • Perform patient name/procedure confirmation and consistently follows safe medical practice and facility specific processes. 
  • Other duties as assigned

 Education and/or Experience Requirements

  • RN License
  • IV Infusion experience (preferred)
  • Ambulatory or surgical setting experience preferred
  • Experience in using an EMR/EHR system (AllScripts preferred)
