Scope

This role is to support prototype manufacturing and testing. All levels will be heavily involved with testing firearms on a regular basis.

Pay Range: $20.19-26.88

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technician Level I: Responsible for shooting, cleaning ranges, assisting engineers and technician team in shooting activities.

Qualifications
  • Candidates must have an associate degree, technical school certificate or 2 years minimum equivalent experience
  • Background in technical writing preferred
  • Experience with instrumentation and sensors preferred
  • Machine shop
  • Highly organized and motivated, with strong ability to manage/monitor detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with user group
  • Demonstrated proficiency with firearms and safe handling
  • Machinist/Toolmaker is a plus

Language Skills
  • Must have working command of the English language
  • Must be able to read, write and interpret the English language
  • Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (basic verbal instructions, simple written memos and instructions)

Computer Skills
  • Solid computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in MS word, Excel and Outlook, Solidworks & Camworks

Training Requirements
  • Participate in and follow all company initiatives
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects (Kaizen events, 5S, etc.)

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, squat and walk
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:
  • Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor
