Job Profile: Buyer II

Reports To: Director of Supply Chain
Role Summary
Buyer II is responsible for creating, maintaining, and coordinating purchase orders to ensure the timely and accurate receipt of goods. This role supports purchasing, inventory planning, logistics coordination, and accounts payable processes, while working cross‑functionally to support operational and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
· Create, maintain, and manage purchase orders and contract releases
· Coordinate inbound purchases and collaborate with logistics to ensure on‑time delivery
· Review order confirmations and communicate changes with vendors and internal teams
· Build and maintain strong, professional vendor relationships
· Track pricing, landed costs, and cost changes
· Support material requirements planning (MRP) and inventory analysis, including min/max purchasing
· Communicate with vendors regarding delays, expedites, and scheduling issues
· Coordinate order quantities and timing with operations and sales teams
· Support intra‑plant transfers and internal purchasing needs
· Assist with accounts payable issue resolution and new vendor setup
· Support cost‑reduction initiatives and supply‑chain improvement projects
Qualifications
· Minimum 1 year of purchasing or buying experience
· Experience purchasing food or other products with shelf‑life or safety requirements preferred
· High school diploma or GED required
· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
· Basic math and analytical skills
· Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast‑paced office environment
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to team success
· Authorization to work in the United States
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position is based on‑site in Sylmar, California, and is performed in an office environment. The role requires sitting for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more per day), frequent walking between office areas, and occasional lifting or moving of materials up to 25 pounds. The role requires regular use of hands, vision for close and distance work, and the ability to communicate clearly.
Schedule
Standard working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours may vary based on business needs.
Pay: $31.00 - $35.00 per hour
