American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Galveston, TX, with several locations across the US: League City, TX, Houston, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY. Our Internship Program is designed to provide young professionals with corporate experience that is not offered in the classroom. In addition to supporting their respective department, each intern will have the opportunity to attend professional development sessions, volunteer within the community, and attend company-sponsored social events.
Our 2026 summer internship program begins on Monday, June 1st and ends on Friday, August 7th. Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) for the entirety of the program.

Team Description
You will support the Human Risk Management (HRM) program. The program is currently staffed by two full time employees, who have more items on the roadmap than they have capacity to accomplish. Augmenting the HRM Team over the summer months will assist with maturity milestone achievement, mitigating identified human risks that could lead to security events, and help fill capacity gaps.
What We’re Looking For
This person must have a strong interest in cybersecurity and human behavior. They should be articulate, have a desire to learn quickly and perform a variety of challenging tasks on a daily basis. They should be organized, articulate, and able to turn verbal and written objectives into polished, professional deliverables. The pursuit of a degree in cybersecurity, information technology, teaching, or a field closely related to any of those three is preferred.
What You Can Expect To Do In The Role
You will assist with 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Month research and materials preparation, assist with the creation of role-based information security training, create PC prompts, assist with the creation of simulated phishing campaigns, perform root cause analysis on security events, and assist with the administration of the Cybersecurity pages on Connect. There may also be opportunities to present to groups on information security related topics.
Skills You Can Expect To Improve And/or Develop
You will learn about cybersecurity tools, how to translate complex technical topics into plain language, how to collaborate with a variety of teams, presentation skills, how to use creative software, research techniques, and SharePoint administration skills.

KnowBe4, Connect/SharePoint, Adobe Creative Suite, basic Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, and Teams, and potentially Articulate software.

- Must hold a Junior standing or higher (May 2026 grads are welcome)
- Must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must be able to commit 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
