Summary : This position will ensure environmental compliance and safety for the areas listed below. They will be responsible for training, implementation and development of Total Productive Maintenance [TPM], and to establish and promote the awareness and improvement of ergonomic activity throughout the work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Include the following; other duties may be assigned as needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable state and federal OSHA laws, particularly in the area of environmental compliance, including EPA, DOT, DEQ, and etc.
Recommend appropriate, reasonable, and cost effective environmental actions to ensure legal compliance.
Prepare and submit permit applications, environmental tests and reports required by applicable agencies in a timely manner.
Assist in protecting Associates from harmful exposure to hazardous materials by monitoring and controlling their use, possession and disposition according to governmental regulations and AMM philosophy.
Trains Associates as needed in environmental issues such as Hazardous Materials and Emergency Response programs.
Consult with various departments on design and use of equipment, ergonomic issues, fire prevention and other safety programs including our Emergency Evacuation Plan.
Assist in the investigation of work-related accidents and development of countermeasures to avoid repetition. Make studies and analysis of injury and illness causes and hazards for use by company personnel and outside agencies. Actively work with injured Associates, Team Leaders and Supervisors to ensure work restrictions and corrective actions are being followed.
Inspect and tour facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards including ergonomic issues. Recommend corrective or preventive measures where applicable.
Participate in ergonomics initiatives and works with manufacturing supervisors and Associates for continuous improvements and preventative actions.
Represent the company in community or industrial environmental, TPM or ergonomic groups.
Develop education programs to promote the understanding of TPM. Lead and assist in Kaizen events to improve TPM activity. Work closely with plant management, supervisors and Associates to communicate and educate for TPM.
Comply with all applicable policies and procedures as required by American Mitsuba’s Quality and Environmental systems.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, Associates, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will also travel periodically to other business units, clients and suppliers using various forms of public and private transportation. There may be occasional lifting, moving or carrying of product, equipment and boxes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus and the ability to view and work with a PC monitor screen.
