About the Role
As a Float Pool ICU RN, you’ll work across a variety of ICU and IMC units, supporting teams throughout a large teaching hospital environment. This role is ideal for clinicians who are adaptable, experienced, and thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity settings.
Schedule & Setting
- Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD
- Unit: Float Pool – ICU (with float to IMC as needed)
- Hospital Type: Large academic teaching hospital
- Patient Population: Medical & surgical ICU patients; wide range of complex, high-acuity conditions
Required Experience & Certifications
- Active RN License in Maryland or Compact
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Strong mixed ICU experience (must be an ICU RN)
- Comfortable floating to IMC-level units
Preferred Skills & Credentials
- Critical Care Certification (CCRN)
- Trauma course completion
- ACLS
- EPIC EMR experience
Clinical Skills Needed
You’ll care for complex patients with conditions such as trauma, sepsis, renal failure, liver failure, oncology complications, respiratory failure, DKA, post-transplant, neuro, GI bleed, cardiac, and more.
Experience with the following is essential:
- CRRT & CVVHD
- Ventilator management
- Titrating critical drips
- A-lines, central lines, Swan-Ganz catheters
- Dysrhythmia recognition & management
