Membership and Strategic Partnerships Director


General Purpose of the Position


This position is a critical multifaceted role responsible for several key functional areas, including driving membership growth, securing strategic partnerships, and ensuring smooth operations. This position is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of membership development, including enhancing member recruitment and retention strategies, fostering membership engagement, and continuing excellent member services. This position is responsible for internal coordination among the staff team and ensuring smooth operations. This position is responsible for driving non-dues and conference revenue by developing and securing strategic partnerships, sponsors, and exhibitors. This position reports directly to the AMRPA Chief Operating Officer.


Responsibilities


Membership

  • Develop and execute membership development strategies, including membership recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives
  • Manage annual membership renewal and billing process, including working with team to conduct direct email and phone call outreach to ensure all payments are collected
  • Develop membership prospect list, conduct outreach and engage in recruitment efforts, create customized membership value proposition pitch, and track prospects through membership onboarding process
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to create targeted campaigns and promotional efforts to drive membership growth and engagement
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive onboarding program that introduces new members to the value and benefits of membership and encourages long-term engagement
  • Ensure all membership and general inquiries are responded to within timely manner and monitor frequently asked questions to determine where communication gaps exist


Operations

  • Collaborate and act as liaison between internal functional staff teams, ensuring proper coordination and alignment
  • Utilize available tools, systems, and technologies to enhance operational efficiencies, streamline workflows, and develop data-driven solutions to member and customer challenges, as needed
  • Liaison with external legal counsel and manage coordination of legal document review



Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop and execute initiatives to secure strategic partnerships, conference sponsors, and exhibitors
  • Identify and research prospective sponsors and exhibitors. Conduct outreach campaigns and schedule introductory calls with decision-makers.
  • Track prospect engagement, schedule follow-up touchpoints, and ensure no opportunity falls through the cracks
  • Maintain organized records of sponsor details, logos, signage needs, and other entitlements.
  • Serve as central point of contact for sponsors before, during, and after conferences. Collect sponsor and exhibitor feedback and share insights on how to enhance experiences in the future.


Other

  • Respond to phone and email inquiries from members and prospective members about ‎specific and general ‎association inquiries
  • Stays well informed about member organizations and relevant developments within the medical rehabilitation field
  • Other duties as assigned that align with the mission and vision of the organization


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in a similar capacity
  • Preferred experience working for an association in the medical or healthcare fields
  • Experience with association management software and other related association technology desired, quick learner of new technology
  • Knowledge and experience in financial management, budgeting, and oversight of budgets
  • Exceptional ability to interface with executive leadership, establish credibility, and build effective relationships
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing membership lifecycle strategies, including acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention
  • Experience and track record of implementing strategies to drive membership growth and revenue generation
  • Experience identifying and engaging potential members for long-term retention
  • Ability to articulate membership value proposition and benefits to members and nonmembers
  • Proven ability to develop prospect list and make outreach in membership and/or strategic partnership capacity
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated supervision of professional and administrative staff
  • Strong customer service orientation and effective interaction with staff at all levels



Virtual Work Model

Candidates will ideally live in the Washington, DC area. This position will primarily operate in a virtual work environment, with regular pre-planned in-person meetings in Washington, DC where attendance is expected. This model allows for flexibility for our employees while also providing opportunities to further develop our culture and build strong relationships among the team. In-person team meetings foster a sense of community, enhance collaboration, improve communication, as well as provides opportunities for team building and fun!


Candidates outside the Washington, DC area will be considered and exceptions for fully remote work will be granted on a case-by-case basis.


Travel Requirements

Occasional travel will be necessary for this position. Requirements include travel to and around Washington, DC, participation in AMRPA and other medical conference, and visits to AMRPA member hospitals. Modes of transportation may include air travel, car, or rail.
