Job Summary
Part-Time, 2nd Shift (Evening to Late Night; specific hours 3 pm-10 pm Monday-Friday, (Every Other Week). Company car and gas card provided (in the rare event personal car is needed, mileage reimbursement is compensation rather than an hourly rate). A clean MVA and background are required.
The Medical Courier is responsible for safely and efficiently completing scheduled specimen pickup and delivery routes between medical clinics. This position requires strict adherence to regulatory standards, exceptional attention to detail, and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders. Courier needs will require in excess of 400 miles daily.
Responsibilities
· Complete scheduled late afternoon and evening courier routes, averaging 400 miles per day across multiple clinic locations.
· Conduct timely pickups of specimens, medical supplies, paperwork, and materials from clinics, provider offices, and partner sites.
· Deliver all collected items to the assigned drop-off location or personnel within required timeframes.
· Ensure all pickup/drop-off logs, manifests, and route sheets are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal SOPs.
· Maintain consistent communication with the team regarding route status, delays, or urgent requests.
Vehicle Operation & Safety
· Operate company fleet vehicles (or approved personal vehicles) safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all state and federal traffic laws.
· Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any maintenance needs, mechanical issues, or safety concerns immediately.
· Follow proper handling and secure transport of clinical specimens and medical materials to maintain integrity and chain-of-custody standards.
· Keep vehicle clean, organized, and in proper working condition at all times.
Compliance & Documentation
· Adhere to all HIPAA, OSHA, biohazard handling requirements, and company-specific transport protocols.
· Accurately document specimen pickup times and delivery confirmations.
· Ensure all materials are properly labeled, stored, and temperature-controlled when required.
Customer Service & Professional Conduct
· Interact professionally with clinic staff, patients, and partner facilities.
· Demonstrate reliable communication, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented mindset when route changes or urgent pickups arise.
· Represent the company with professionalism, integrity, and excellent customer service at all times.
Qualifications
Required
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no major violations or suspensions within the last 10 years).
· Ability to drive long distances daily (400 miles) with strong endurance and attention to safety.
· Strong reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, bend, reach, and handle repetitive motion tasks related to pickups.
· Comfortable driving during evening hours and across varied weather and traffic conditions.
· High level of responsibility, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.
Preferred
· Experience as a courier, delivery driver, medical courier, or logistics specialist.
· Knowledge of healthcare or laboratory pickup/delivery processes.
· Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
· Strong customer service or clinic-interfacing experience.
Working Conditions
· This is a high mileage driving position requiring daily operation of a vehicle for extended periods.
· Exposure to varying weather conditions during pickups and drop-offs.
· Evening route schedule (approx. 3 PM–10 PM), with potential variations based on workload.
· Fast-paced logistical environment with time-sensitive materials.
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
