What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Clinical Medical Assistant position at American Medical Associates?
This is an Independent Contractor (1099) position compensated based on the amount of patient visits per day. Fuel reimbursement negotiable.
American Medical Associates is looking for two (2) Field Clinical Medical Assistants or Certified Nursing Assistants to travel to patient's homes to assist with telehealth appointments between patients and our Providers.
The ideal candidate(s) will have completed and graduated from an accredited medical assisting or nursing assistant course and be flexible. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are a must.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for traveling to patient homes to assist the organization in facilitating telemedicine visits and managing point-of-care testing. Responsible for Medical Assistant duties including:
- Measure and record patient vital signs, take patient medical and social histories, as well as medication reconciliation, chief complaints, and assist Providers with on-site physical exams.
- Set up and assist with virtual telehealth appointments between patients and our Providers.
- Patient record management utilizing the EMR system.
- Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM): Track and log ongoing patient health metrics.
- Providing patient instructions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties including but not limited to:
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities which include: daily pick up of patient list for the respective days home visits, assisting patients as needed with collecting specimens, collecting patient history including social, medical, and family; reconciling medications; performing screenings per Provider guidelines; relaying instructions to patients/families.
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: completing forms/requisitions as needed; managing charts to ensure information is completed.
- Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which include respecting/promoting patient rights and sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with the Clinical Manager.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of and graduated from an accredited medical assisting course required.
- Completion of and graduated from an accredited certified nursing assistant course required.
- Certification from the National Healthcareer Association preferred.
- Current BLS required.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and comfort navigating local travel required.
- Proficiency with video-capable devices (tablets/smartphones) and electronic health record (EHR) software required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 10 lbs. coupled with strong interpersonal skills for working with geriatric or diverse patient populations.

- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Good judgment.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
