Overview
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Podiatrist specializing in Long-Term Care, where your expertise will directly enhance the quality of life for residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other long-term care settings. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive foot and lower limb assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and deliver specialized podiatric care to promote mobility, prevent complications, and support overall well-being. Your proactive approach and clinical skills will make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of our patients.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough podiatric evaluations including patient assessments, medical history reviews, and physical examinations focused on foot and lower limb health.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing conditions such as diabetic foot ulcers, deformities, infections, and skin or nail issues.
  • Perform advanced procedures including suturing, wound care, toenail removal, and minor surgical interventions to promote healing and prevent complications.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—such as nursing staff, physicians specializing in geriatrics or internal medicine—to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on foot health management, preventive practices, and proper footwear to reduce future risks.
  • Stay current with clinical research developments in podiatry and related fields such as endocrinology, vascular interventional radiography, and wound management to continually enhance patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Valid state licensure as a Podiatrist with certification to practice in long-term care environments.
  • Proven experience in hospital or nursing home settings with a focus on patient service and comprehensive foot care.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other healthcare information technology platforms for documentation and patient tracking.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology related to lower extremity health, and common conditions affecting elderly populations.
  • Ability to perform clinical procedures including suturing, wound care management, toenail procedures, and basic life support (BLS).
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
