Duties

• Assist registered nurses and physicians with patient care activities, including vital signs monitoring, hygiene assistance, and mobility support using safe lifting practices and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
• Document patient information accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks, ensuring medical documentation is complete and compliant with healthcare regulations.
• Support patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, dressing, and toileting, especially those with complex needs such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
• Perform basic clinical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy (blood draws), and aseptic techniques for infection control in accordance with hospital policies.
• Monitor patient vital signs regularly and report any changes or concerns promptly to the healthcare team to facilitate timely interventions.
• Assist in patient transfers using appropriate methods to ensure safety for both patients and staff, especially when working with geriatric or critically ill individuals in Level I or Level II trauma centers or ICU settings.

Skills

• Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or those requiring hospice or memory care.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification to respond effectively during emergencies.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical recordkeeping and documentation.
• Excellent caregiver communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate patient service.
• Experience working in acute care environments like ICU, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or post-acute care settings such as long-term care facilities or assisted living communities.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics during patient handling procedures involving manual handling techniques like the Hoyer lift.
• Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique and infectious disease care protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff alike.
