What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Channel Marketing Specialist position at American Meadows Inc?
WHO WE ARE
At American Meadows, our Purpose is Doing Good Through Gardening. Our two brands serve distinct audiences: American Meadows is the leading authority on meadowscaping, while High Country Gardens specializes in sustainable gardening for the Western U.S. With over a decade of double-digit growth and a passionate customer base of gardeners nationwide, we’re entering a pivotal chapter — investing in new tools, new talent, and new ways of working to help even more people grow something meaningful.
WHO YOU ARE & WHAT YOU’D DO
We’re looking for a data-driven performance marketer who can translate numbers into predictable growth. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Channel Marketing Specialist will own the day-to-day execution, optimization, and reporting of our paid media program across search, social, shopping, and emerging channels.
You’ll manage agency partners, monitor pacing and performance, and make proactive recommendations that improve efficiency, accuracy, and return on spend. You’ll also play a key supporting role in planning, forecasting, and testing new growth opportunities — helping us strengthen our acquisition engine for the long term.
This role is ideal for someone who’s hands-on with platforms, analytical by nature, and energized by measurable results. You don’t just run campaigns — you run them with purpose and know how to connect tactics to company goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Paid Channel Performance Management 50%
- Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of paid search, shopping, social, display, remarketing, and emerging paid channels to ensure forecastable, consistent performance.
- Manage agency relationships through clear, consistent communication to ensure accountability to goals, alignment on priorities, and proactive issue resolution.
- Collaborate with Brand and Merchandising teams to align paid media investment with shopper personas, category performance, and product priorities.
- Evaluate channel data and make data-driven recommendations to improve efficiency, return on ad spend, and customer acquisition growth.
- Provide agency context briefs linking product updates to paid media priorities.
- Report on customer file growth and retention.
- Incrementality testing and reporting.
Channel Reporting & Insights 20%
- Translate paid media performance into insights that connect marketing results to business outcomes.
- Review pacing, performance, and forecasts to identify opportunities for optimization and increased profitability.
- Build and refine dashboards and reporting tools that clearly communicate key trends and takeaways to internal partners.
- Provide actionable insights that inform messaging, audience strategy, and product focus across the organization.
Planning & Strategy Support 20%
- Partner with the Marketing Director on seasonal and annual planning, including forecasting, budget allocation, and investment recommendations.
- Collaborate with agency and internal stakeholders to ensure plans are grounded in data and aligned with business goals for sales and margin.
- Participate in seasonal hindsight and planning sessions to surface results, lessons, and future growth opportunities.
- Use data and analysis to strengthen marketing predictability, efficiency, and impact.
Emerging Channels & Innovation 10%
- Monitor and assess new acquisition opportunities that expand reach, efficiency, and diversification across channels.
- Track emerging platform trends, competitor activity, and technological innovations to inform marketing strategy.
- Support pilot programs with clear objectives, performance tracking, and next-step recommendations.
- Share learnings with leadership to guide channel testing and future marketing innovation.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3–5 years experience in paid media or digital acquisition, ideally in ecommerce
- Proven experience managing agency or vendor relationships
- Hands-on familiarity with Google Ads, Meta, shopping feeds, GA4, and Looker Studio (or similar)
- Strong analytical and Excel/Sheets skills — you know how to spot trends and act fast
- Comfort working in seasonal, high-volume retail environments
- Curiosity and initiative — you look beyond metrics to understand what’s really driving performance
REQUIREMENT FOR APPLICATION:
We don’t want a generic cover letter. Instead, show us how you think:
- What tools and KPIs do you use to drive performance?
- How would you translate that into our seasonal ecommerce environment?
- Teach us something we don’t know — about marketing, customers, or our category.
Don't overdo it. We're more interested in how you think than how you write.
OUR CULTURE
We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. Our company blends data and creativity, and we celebrate both experimentation and impact. Whether you’re collaborating remotely or at our Vermont HQ, you’ll be part of a team that believes in Doing Good Through Gardening — and occasionally breaks for taco trucks, bagpipes, or spontaneous “Don’t Stop Believin’” singalongs.
THE PERKS
- The usual, but very important, things like health, vision, dental (which the company contributes to), as well as a matching retirement plan and company paid Life Insurance and Disability.
- Additional optional benefits include a Health Savings Account (HSA), an Employee Assistance Program through InvestEAP, and access to discounted college courses and certificate programs through Champlain College’s TruED program.
- We’re life-long learners and want you to be inspired to grow, whether it’s through Master Gardener, an Excel class, or want to be more informed in ways to support our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts.
- We share in our financial success, and you’ll receive an incentive payout when we achieve our financial and project goals.
- The best way for you to connect with our products is by digging in the dirt and gardening with our products. We offer at-cost product discounts and at the end of each season, with any remaining unsold products, we give them out to our employees and the community to fuel more gardening passion!
Estimated Base Salary Range:$65-75K, depending on experience.
