Role Description We are seeking a mechanically inclined leader who can manage projects from planning through execution while remaining actively involved in field operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with customers, leading subcontractors, solving technical problems, and performing hands-on mechanical work when required. Day-to-day work includes performing and reviewing technical specifications, supporting electrical and mechanical system integration, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications. The Marine Project Engineer collaborates with project managers, technicians, vendors, and customers to manage schedules, track progress, and resolve technical issues in the field. Responsibilities also include preparing project reports, supporting cost estimates and change orders, participating in safety and quality reviews, and communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong Project Engineering and Project Planning skills, including coordinating technical activities, developing work scopes, and supporting schedules and budgets.
- Project Management capabilities to track milestones, manage risks, support resource coordination, and contribute to on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Electrical Engineering knowledge relevant to marine systems, such as power distribution, controls, and troubleshooting onboard equipment.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, shipyard personnel, clients, and vendors, and for producing clear technical documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working in shipyards, aboard vessels, or in maritime/defense environments, with familiarity with applicable maritime codes and standards (e.g., ABS, USCG, Navy specs) preferred.
- Proficiency with engineering and project tools such as MS Office, and project tracking software.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with the ability to work on-site, travel to vessels or shipyards as needed, and perform hands-on inspections in marine environments.
