Job Spec: Software Developer
Role: Software developer - Performance & Data Systems
Purpose:
- To provide ARC the capability to maintain and develop features on GB1 software under NDA
- To support ARC in the usage and operation of proprietary tool set in Performance and OnBoard Software
- To develop tools to increase the operational efficiency in the Area of Data/Performance and On Board Software
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain and extend the team's core performance and analysis applications, working within an established codebase and release process.
- Develop and maintain onboard software components covering data acquisition, telemetry and logging.
- Build and support tooling for the performance group, including data processing, calibration and configuration workflows.
- Automate recurring internal processes to reduce manual effort during a campaign.
- Support day-to-day operational use of the software by analysts and technical staff, including troubleshooting.
- Maintain build, test and deployment pipelines for the software the role owns.
- Document tools and workflows so knowledge is shared across the team rather than held by one person.
- Use AI-assisted development tooling to increase output, while remaining accountable for code quality and review.
Requirements
- Strong full-stack development experience, comfortable across both front-end and back-end work.
- Proficiency in Python and at least one of C or C#.
- Front-end development with JavaScript, including React or equivalent framework experience.
- Solid working knowledge of Linux and Windows — able to install, configure and troubleshoot on both.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines as part of normal development practice.
- Experience with containerised deployment (Docker).
- Experience working with databases, both relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational or time-series (MongoDB, InfluxDB).
- Able to work with existing codebases and undocumented systems rather than only greenfield projects.
- Willing and able to sign and work under the client NDA.
- Comfortable working directly with non-developer users and supporting them operationally.
- Fluent English.
Nice-to-haves
- Cloud infrastructure experience, particularly AWS.
- Experience with streaming or message-broker systems (Kafka or equivalent).
- Kubernetes or other container orchestration.
- Practical experience with AI/ML, or with AI-assisted development workflows.
- Experience with real-time or high-frequency data systems — acquisition, telemetry, time-series analysis.
- Background in a performance-driven technical environment (motorsport, aerospace, marine, or similar) where software supports live operations.
- Experience building tools for non-technical end users, with an eye for usability.
- Scripting and automation across mixed Linux/Windows fleets.
- Additional languages beyond English.
- Willingness to travel and to work occasional irregular hours around event schedules.
- Sailing background or experience working in a sailing environment — an understanding of the sport and of on-water operations.
Location / work mode
- Based in Pensacola, Florida, USA — on site.
- Occasional travel to the UK and/or Naples, Italy as required.
