What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance/Custodial Technician position at American Legion TW Cole Post 19?
The Maintenance/Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and functional environment for members, guests, and community organizations utilizing American Legion Post 19 facilities. This position performs routine cleaning, maintenance, groundskeeping, and facility support services to ensure the Post remains well-maintained and operational.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General Facility Maintenance
- Clean windows, doors, and floors when requested or specified.
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
- Replace light bulbs, batteries, and other routine maintenance items.
- Maintain storage areas and custodial supplies in an organized manner. Property store and use chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform other related maintenance and custodial duties as assigned by Post leadership.
Grounds and Exterior Maintenance
- Mow lawns, trim grass, edge walkways, and remove weeds.
- Maintain landscaping and shrubbery.
- Remove leaves and debris from grounds and entrances.
- Perform snow and ice removal as directed.
- Maintain building entrances, walkways, and parking areas in a safe condition.
Weekly Responsibilities
Tuesday
- Inspect all trash and recycling areas.
- Ensure all cardboard is broken down and secured with duct tape. Place cardboard inside designated barrel and ensure the lid is securely closed.
- Place trash and recycling barrels out for Wednesday morning pickup.
- Inspect the Smoke Shack and remove cigarette butt waste and other debris.
Friday
- Inspect all restrooms for cleanliness. Empty restroom trash containers as needed.
- Refill toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, and other restroom supplies.
- Mop the kitchen floor.
- Inspect the Smoke Shack and remove cigarette butt waste and other debris.
Additional Duties
- Report on maintenance, safety, or repair needs to Post Commander. Develop or acquire proposals for recommended repairs when requested by Post Commander. Project work requires authorization from Post Commander after Executive Board approval and prior to project start.
- Project work may or may not result in this position performing, participating or completing the work needed. This determination will be based on the safety of the employee and the risks to the Post and Organization.
Pay: $15.10 - $17.00 per hour
