What are the responsibilities and job description for the Virtual Tutor position at AMERICAN LEARNING?
American Heritage Schools Palm Beach Campus is currently accepting applications for High School Virtual Tutors, in the subject areas of Advanced Science ( preferably with a Chemistry or Biology background ) and Math.
This is a part time virtual position.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Tutor is responsible for helping students learn and understand new concepts and complete assignments. You will work directly with students to assist them in gaining a better understanding of concepts taught in the classroom.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate mastery of content knowledge
Ensure a high-quality learning experience; plan and implement learning tasks:
Curate and design resources and incorporate instructional technologies aligned with learning outcomes
Assist students individually in building core skills for the requested subject area
Helping students understand educational concepts, complete assignments, and prepare for assessments
Assist students in achieving their classroom/subject matter goals by providing the following:
Supplemental instruction
Preparing instructional materials to support their classwork
Evaluating their understanding of the course or subject area as time progresses
Differentiate and modify learning tasks according to student need; implement accommodations as directed
Demonstrate caring and respect in interactions with students
SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate updates to the director, classroom teacher(s) and families of the student’s progress.
Provide timely and relevant feedback to students and parents
Mandatory pieces of training to attend and complete such as:
Cybersecurity
Child Abuse Prevention
Customer Service
Safety and Security
Etc.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree (Minimum Requirement)
Valid Teaching License/Subject Area Certification
Retirees and professionals within a related field
3 years of teaching or tutoring experience
Gifted, AP Certifications, ESOL, ESE, Reading Specialist, Orton Gillingham, (Preferred)
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Reliable professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Is comfortable with different school based learning systems and online textbooks
Can proficiently use digital platforms for learning
Ability to personalize lessons based on student capabilities
Exhibit subject matter expertise by communicating the materials and skills to students in an approachable way
Comfortable and proficient with educational technology; flexible in using different online platforms
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Flexible schedule based on your availability and client demand
5 days a week
7:00 am - 6:00 pm EST (weekdays)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
BENEFITS
This position is not eligible for benefits due to part-time status.
