Fairfield Landscaping is seeking a skilled and reliable Shop Assistant to support the daily maintenance and repair of our vehicles and landscaping equipment. This hands‐on role is essential to keeping our operations safe, efficient, and moving year‐round.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a mechanically inclined technician who can work on landscaping equipment, gas and diesel vehicles, and 2 cycle/4 cycle and small engines.

The schedule typically runs about 50 hours a week with 5 ten hour shifts (overtime).

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain trucks, trailers, landscaping equipment, gas and diesel engines
• Perform preventive maintenance, tire repair, spot welding, and small engine work
• Respond to road service calls and coordinate towing as needed
• Order parts and maintain accurate service records
• Assist crews with equipment, loading/unloading, and snow removal operations
• Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized shop

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of mechanical or equipment maintenance experience
• Working knowledge of automotive and small‐engine repair
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Valid driver's license or CDL (DOT medical card required/obtainable)
• Technical training or equivalent hands‐on experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Lift 50–100 lbs regularly
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Stand, kneel, bend, climb, and work in tight spaces as needed
