Brief Summary
The Commercial Lines Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and examining market data, including appraisals, inspections, catastrophe models, and other relevant information in furtherance of underwriting new business applications, assumptions and renewals for commercial residential property products. A key part of the commercial lines team, the Commercial Lines Underwriter will serve as the company representative to independent agents, providing best-in-class service to our partners and representing the core values of American Integrity. He/she will collaborate effectively with the Product, Pricing, Risk, and Underwriting teams to review, analyze, and make data-driven decisions regarding the products, rates, and forms associated with residential commercial property products.
What You’ll Do
- Solicit, underwrite, and price new and renewal commercial residential property business congruent with American Integrity’s company underwriting philosophy, established coverage parameters, and written or verbal procedures and guidelines.
- Provide superior underwriting and client services to agents and other company affiliates, and is a strong representative of American Integrity.
- Review technical inspections, appraisals and other data relevant to the risk profile, analyzing for risk appetite, profitability, and overall portfolio characteristics to ensure a financially sound product.
- Serve as the company representative to commercial agents, fostering relationships with new partners and identifying new business opportunities.
- Work with external partners, identify trends and recommend appropriate underwriting, pricing, and product action to the leadership team.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on commercial residential property and assist with training as needed.
What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference for degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science or other related field.
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in Commercial Residential Property Insurance experience preferred. Preferred candidate will possess excellent computer skills working with queries, workbooks, data warehouse knowledge, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Certifications:
- Florida 2-20 General Lines Insurance License required.
- Professional Insurance Designations such as CPCU, CIC, AAI, desired.
- Expert knowledge of commercial lines products and underwriting processes and analytics.
- Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance structure.
- Expert communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely explain advanced insurance concepts, coverages, and other details to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Humble, and possessing an intellectual curiosity.
- Experience in communicating with varied organizational tiers and customer types.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Presentation skills including delivery to varied organizational tiers.
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple team members.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, priority-shifting environment.
- Advanced user – Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated ability to learn additional software applications as required, and significant previous experience utilizing a policy and claims administration system and Salesforce.
- Ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise, organized and diplomatic manner; gather information from multiple parties to ensure all perspectives are heard and considered; listen to others to respond effectively to ideas, thoughts and questions; express information and ideas effectively in settings including aligned or un-aligned feedback to obtain desired results.
Working Conditions: Normal business office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers. #LI-On-site
