Job Summary
Entry-level Quality Inspector training for performing basic in-process and final inspections under supervision while developing knowledge of AAR, FRA, customer, and company requirements.
Job Duties
Inspection Activities
- Train to Perform assigned in-process inspections.
- Train to Perform assigned final inspections.
- Train to Verify work completed meets work order requirements.
- Train to Verify required repair procedures were followed.
- Train to Inspect repaired railcars for obvious defects and non-conformances.
- Train to Complete inspection documentation accurately and legibly.
- Train to Verify required forms are complete before railcar release.
Quality Documentation
- Train to Complete inspection reports.
- Train to Record defects and discrepancies.
- Train to Maintain inspection records.
- Train to Document non-conforming conditions.
Compliance Support
- Train to Understand basic AAR and FRA requirements applicable to assigned work.
- Train to Follow company Quality Management System procedures.
- Train to Support corrective action investigations when requested.
Facility Support
- Assist with facility audits.
- Participate in quality meetings.
- Support Quality Manager with data collection.
Required Certifications/Training
- New Hire Quality Training
- Hazmat Training
- Training to AITX Quality Procedures (Element 2.6 – 2.24)
Advancement Requirements to Level II
- Minimum 6 months experience.
- Demonstrated competency performing in-process inspections.
- Demonstrate knowledge of common AAR defects.
- Recommendation from Quality Manager.
Education and Experience
- High School degree; experience in railcar repair, welding
- ability to interpret drawings, procedure manuals, and have proven mechanical aptitude.
- Computer proficiency,
- strong attention to details,
- organizational, time management, verbal and written communication, and ability to multitask skills are essential
