Clinician I Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Program Director the Clinician has the responsibility of assessing, diagnosing and identifying the appropriate level of patient care by conducting a comprehensive American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment and/or an Initial Triage Assessments (ITA) and participate in treatment plan development.

 

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

 

Following is a general listing of the job duties inherent in this position.  The employee may also perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

 

  • Performs culturally competent comprehensive assessments, identify an appropriate diagnoses and develop a treatment plan within the required time frame.
  • Provide guidance, consultation and approval of their assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans and progress notes.
  • Maintain detailed client record documentation; progress notes and treatment reviews.
  • Participates as member of a multi‑disciplinary treatment team providing clinical input related to client diagnosis and recommended treatment plans. Consults with staff to review client cases and medication issues.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency in substance abuse and co-occurring disorder treatment.  Must be sensitive and responsive to cultural differences among the agency's client population.
  • May carry a caseload and conduct individual/group sessions including family education groups.
  • Regularly meet and maintain the agencies expected productivity goal.
  • Make and monitor appropriate referrals when necessary
  • Support the orientation and training of staff and interns.
  • Actively participates in continuous quality improvement efforts and peer review functions.
  • Consults with and serves as a liaison with community agencies, school personnel, parents, and other programs and services to evaluate community health needs and services; advocates and educates on needs of specific client.
  • Makes presentations to community and other groups outside the facility.

 

Clinician Competencies and Performance Expectations

 

All Clinicians are expected;

 

  • Assess and re-assess client status and make accurate diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Analyze crisis situations in a prompt and concise manner to facilitate appropriate treatment and referrals.
  • Present client history and behavioral impressions for further review.
  • Prepare detailed case summaries and documentation and maintain accurate client records in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Provide education, consultation and in-service trainings for staff.
  • Protect clients’ rights and provide advocacy for all clients.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other therapists, county staff, referral agencies, physicians and the public.

 

Clinician II Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Director, the Clinician II is responsible for providing clinical services to adult clients enrolled in AICS’s residential substance use and co-occurring disorder capable treatment program. The Clinician II conducts assessments, develops individualized treatment and care coordination plans, and facilitates evidence-based interventions in both group and individual settings. The position requires culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented clinical care, with a strong understanding of the unique needs of American Indian/Alaska Native communities and other culturally diverse populations.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • The following represents the core duties of this position. Other related tasks may be assigned as needed.
  • Complete all intake and admission documentation in compliance with LA County DPH-SAPC, DHCS, CARF, private pay contract, and AICS requirements (including consent forms, patient rights, ROI’s, medical necessity determinations, financial eligibility, and intake summaries).
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to determine diagnostic impressions and treatment needs in alignment with DSM-5 and ASAM criteria.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized care plans/problem lists in collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based and culturally relevant treatment modalities for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plan updates, discharge summaries, and coordination of care entries, in accordance with SAPC, DHCS, CARF, private pay contract, and AICS documentation standards.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, providing clinical input related to diagnosis, treatment progress, coordination of psychiatric or case management services, and clinical service delivery.
  • Collaborate with psychiatric providers, case managers, and peer support staff to ensure integrated and holistic care for each client.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with SAPC policies, CARF accreditation, ASAM level of care standards, and federal and state confidentiality regulations (42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA).
  • Provide crisis intervention and ensure client and community safety through appropriate clinical judgment and collaboration with supervisory staff.
  • Maintain cultural competence and demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of American Indian/Alaska Native clients and other culturally diverse populations.
  • Attend and facilitate required clinical supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing training to ensure compliance with agency, county, and state licensure and certification standards.
  • Provide or arrange transportation support for clients, when necessary, in accordance with agency policy.

Salary : $28 - $40
