What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Manufacturing Estimator position at American Hydro?
Steeped in a tradition of hydropower, American Hydro is a leading supplier and installer of large equipment for the hydro electric industry, specializing in design, engineering, precision CNC manufacture, upgrades and servicing of high-performance, hydro-turbines and large pumps.
We are currently looking for an ESTIMATOR to add to the family in our PROPOSALS TEAM located at York, PA facility. We are a tight-knit group that takes a great deal of pride in what we produce. The ESTIMATOR is primarily responsible for the preparation of cost estimates for marketing proposals and the communication of technical and processing information for the procurement of manufacturing related services.

- Review customer inquiry documents and compile detailed cost estimates for labor and materials needed to complete specified work scope(s)
- Select appropriate processes, decide the sequence of operations and determine the number of hours needed to manufacture parts within contract specifications
- Creation of a written detailed technical scope of supply to accompany the cost estimate
- Communicate specification, quality, delivery and processing information to the Purchasing function for use in the procurement of manufacturing related services
- Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills
- Ability to visualize and comprehend all aspects of manufacturing equipment and tooling, understand interrelationships between factors affecting a given situation
- Satisfy requirements of ISO Quality Standard as it relates to these functions
Education and/or Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical Engineer P.E. a plus - compensation considered.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications, data and to track modern manufacturing trends.
Mathematical:
Ability to comprehend and apply standard shop math principles, including geometry and trigonometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Word Processing and Excel are required. Experience with Primavera P6 data entry is a plus.
Physical Demands:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Successful candidates must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship, and must be in the immediate York, PA area (or be able to relocate at their own expense).
