Middle School Homeroom Teacher

Full-Time Middle School Teacher: Candidates should have a minimum of two years' experience, preferably in a formal school setting. Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. Candidates must demonstrate an enduring love of youth, a love of teaching and learning, and a desire to work in a faith-based atmosphere aligned with values taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills, high energy, experience in preparing and delivering daily lesson plans, experience establishing and communicating clear learning objectives, ability to use various pedagogical methods, and willingness to learn.Successful candidates will demonstrate a high, warm, consistent energy so that students can tell the teacher loves them and the subject matter. It is vital that candidates have a broad knowledge and deep intelligence about the subject matter taught so that students become interested in the details and relevance of each subject; students will draw deeply on the teacher as a source of inspiration, wisdom, and relevance. Candidates should have the ability to teach middle school students English and Writing and help them progress in their academic writing. Candidates should have a love of history and ability to help students connect lessons learned with the world around them and a passion for classic literature and help to help students grow in their love of literature. Strong applicants will have the ability to distill knowledge into concepts and principles-statements of truth that can readily be applied to a wide variety of circumstances, have strong oral skills, including the ability to present information in an engaging, way with pacing that moves quickly and doesn't drag.Candidates should have strong written communication skills, including the ability to create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics. Applicants should have strong classroom management skills, including the ability to stay organized and implement routines that are purposeful and effective, have a habit of communicating with employees and parents in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, helpful, and positive. Experience in preparing and facilitating daily lesson plans is essential for this position. Applicants should have experience in establishing and communicating clear learning objectives to students and parents and an ability to use a variety of pedagogical methods that engage students in active reasoning and relating as well as experience monitoring and reporting progress to parents. Applicants with special education training (in teaching students with specific learning disabilities) is helpful but is not required.Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor. They should also be willing and able to uphold and serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement, on and off campus.In addition to the job requirements listed above, please include in your application any interest you have in helping with our AHS extracurricular athletics programs. Please let us know if you have experience as a player or a coach in specific sports. AHS prefers to fill its extracurricular athletics coaching openings with employees (teachers, aides, etc.) who also have skills and interest in coaching athletics.

Salary : $40,200 - $55,400
