Executive Protection Agent - Chicagoland area

Pay: $77,000-83,000/year

Overview

An Executive Protection Agent (EPA) is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and privacy of high-profile clients—including corporate executives, political figures, and high-net-worth individuals. This role involves proactive risk assessment, close-protection techniques, advance planning, and operational readiness to mitigate threats and provide secure, efficient movement for the client.


Protective Duties

  • Provide close, personal security to the client during domestic and international travel, public appearances, and day-to-day activities.
  • Maintain constant situational awareness to identify and neutralize potential threats.
  • Escort clients safely during transport, ensuring secure entry/exit from vehicles, buildings, and event locations.
  • Implement defensive and evasive driving techniques when operating security vehicles.

Planning & Risk Management

  • Conduct site advances, venue walkthroughs, and route planning to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Assess threats and develop mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and emergency response protocols.
  • Coordinate logistics for secure travel, accommodations, and event movements.

Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with corporate security teams, law enforcement, venue security, and external agencies.
  • Maintain clear, discreet communication with the client and team members.
  • Prepare and submit detailed activity and incident reports.

 Operational Readiness

  • Maintain proficiency in firearms, defensive tactics, first aid/trauma response, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure equipment readiness, including communications gear, medical kits, and protective tools.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and safeguard all sensitive client information.

Qualifications

  • Prior law enforcement, military, or specialized security experience preferred.
  • Certification in Executive Protection / Close Protection from recognized training organizations.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate armored and non-armored vehicles.
  • Medical training (CPR/AED, First Aid).
  • Strong physical fitness and ability to work long, irregular hours.
  • Excellent judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
