THE ROLE: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
AHA’s Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting laboratory findings to physicians. AHA's MLT must meet the Personnel Responsibilities per CLIA Sec. 493.1495: Standard Testing Personnel Responsibilities. AHA’s MLT must follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance. Can identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
- Produce and report appropriate laboratory results in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, automated chemistry, and automated immunology.
- Perform, interpret, and record quality control data in all departments.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation as prescribed in procedures.
- Perform inventory and maintain department supplies.
Part-time Work Shift(s):
· Monday - Friday, 8AM to 4:30PM; 2-3 days per week with an occasional Saturday.
Pay:
· Hourly, BOE
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in biological science or chemistry, required.
- Must hold an active Florida MT or MLT State License with one of the following certifications: ASCP, AMT, or AAB, required.
