What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Chemist position at American Health Formulations?
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Quality Control Chemist to join our team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and has strong analytical skills. Additionally, strong communication skills will be essential in liaising with various departments and stakeholders.
Responsibilities: (but are not limited to the following)
- Testing of In-Process (IP), Finished Goods (FG), and Stability Study (ST) sample workload
- Ensure good laboratory practices (GLP) to fulfill quality requirements when releasing products for commercial use
- Assist with analysis of Raw Materials (RM) and approval of Packaging Components (Labels) for timely release to meet Production needs
- Perform analytical test on samples including weight variation, UV/Vis and FTIR spectroscopy, liquid and gas chromatography, dissolution, disintegration, hardness, friability, titration, etc.
- Routinely perform Method Validation testing to meet the QC laboratory’s requirements. Work in conjunction with lab personnel to meet the facility’s compliance goals
- Support, generate, and edit analytical protocols, procedures, specifications, and reports in compliance with cGMP, primarily with Finished Product testing
- Adapt, maintain, and operate analytical instrumentation, including regular calibration
- Ensure and promote safe working conditions when handling or in the presence of laboratory solvents and reagents
- Coordinate with R&D to acquire materials, obtain/develop new testing methods, and refer to regulatory requirements for new raw materials
- Provide assistance with general lab organization and tasks, such as coordinating external lab testing submissions, retrieval of samples from stability chambers, scanning and filing of reports, glassware maintenance
- Review of executed BMR and BPR for accuracy and completeness
- Properly record all data, as per SOPs, in laboratory notebooks and logbooks
- Assist with modifying and validating analytical procedures to meet QC needs
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Senior Management
Education and Qualification:
- Minimum associate’s degree in science-related field, or active enrollment in a college/university
- Laboratory experience in an educational institution
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate issues and concerns with Quality Control personnel
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide visual observations for qualitative tests
Physical Demands:
- Required to reach with arms and use hands and fingers to handle or feel
- Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, bend, sit, talk, hear, and climb a ladder
- The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 lbs or more
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
- Work environment in a lab and or production operation facilities include close proximity to heavy machinery and powders
- May be in contact with Allergens (Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacean Shellfish. Tree Nuts, Peanuts, Wheat, and Soybeans)
- Potential to move between office and warehouse areas to complete job functions.
