What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Document Control Specialist position at American Health Formulations?
We are looking for a proactive QA Document Control Specialist who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance. In this role, you’ll play a key part in managing SOPs, training records, logbooks, and documentation that keep our operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities: (but are not limited to the following)
- Review deviations and customer complaints for completeness and proper documentation
- Prepare, review, issue, and maintain SOPs, forms, logs, labels and controlled documents
- Update SOP logs, binders, and records when procedures become effective or revised
- Issue product, material, and document codes after reviewing supporting documentation
- Issue and maintain controlled logbooks for production and quality departments
- Maintain organized QA documentation through accurate filing, scanning, and record archiving
- Coordinate and track employee training related to SOPs and quality procedures
- Maintain training records and ensure documentation is audit ready
- Provide backup support to QA Inspectors as needed
- Assist with audit preparation
- Other responsibilities as assigned by executive management
Education and Qualification:
- BS Degree – Major in Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or equivalent required
- 5 years of quality, production, engineering, and documentation experience in the food, nutraceutical and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing plant required
- Understanding of GMP rules and regulations preferred
- English and Chinese bilingual required
Skills and Abilities:
- Attention to details and highly organized
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet company deadlines
- Ability to make judgment calls to ensure quality of products
- Ability to communicate assignments and/or concerns with a team of employees
- Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Physical Demands:
- Required to reach with arms and use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and tools
- Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, bend, sit, talk, hear, climb stairs and ladders
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds with the possibility to 50 pounds
Work Environment:
- Work environment in production operation facilities include close proximity to heavy machinery and pharmaceutical powders
- May be in contract with milk, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soy
- Potential to move between production operations sites/areas to complete job functions.
