Job Purpose
The Cafe Cook & Cashier supports daily food and beverage operations by preparing menu items, providing excellent guest service, and handling transactions efficiently. This role ensures a clean, organized, and welcoming cafe environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and service.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests and take food and beverage orders with a friendly, service-oriented approach
- Prepare and cook menu items (e.g., breakfast items, sandwiches, grill items, snacks) in accordance with recipes and quality standards
- Assemble, plate, and serve food in a timely and visually appealing manner
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process orders, handle cash, and complete transactions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, prep areas, counters, and dining spaces
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines
- Monitor food inventory levels and restock supplies as needed
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries in compliance with safety standards
- Support opening and closing procedures, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning
- Address guest questions or concerns promptly and professionally
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient service flow
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Previous experience in food service, kitchen, or hospitality preferred
- Basic cooking or food preparation experience strongly preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills and comfort handling payments and cash
- Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and safety standards
- Reliable, team-oriented, and detail-focused
- Schedules vary based on business needs and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 lbs
- Exposure to kitchen equipment, heat, and typical food service environment conditions
