Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
- Manages confidential information in a professional manner.
- Reviews plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure they meet safety requirements.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of various industrial control mechanisms.
- Ensures that the Company’s facilities comply with health and safety regulations, especially after an inspection that requires changes.
- Installs safety devices on machinery or oversees the installation of these devices.
- Identifies and corrects potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to assist in the reduction of injury / illness rates; completes hazard assessments on a semi-annual basis (or as often as needed).
- Develops and maintains job physical assessments.
- Conducts severe weather and fire drills.
- Assists with performing safety audits.
- Liaises closely with the Lead Health & Safety Engineer to manage issues relating to the facilities service provision, waste disposal, buildings, fire safety equipment, electrical testing, and safety audit non-compliances.
- Reviews and records checks on all fire exits, fire equipment, and fire signs; reviews relevant safety signage throughout the Company’s facilities.
- Stays abreast of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes, and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulatory agencies.
- Conducts and completes post-accident / injury investigations; oversees the “light duty” “back to work” program.
- Develops/conducts/organizes training on all safety and environmental issues; conducts safety training for all new hires as part of the onboarding process.
- Assists the Plant Manager with all functions of the Safety Committee, and oversees the Emergency Response Team; serves as the Project Manager for annual Health & Safety Fair.
- Maintains the Company’s safety policies and procedure manual; reviews employee safety programs continuously and recommends improvements (when needed) to ensure policies remain accurate and up-to-date.
- Develops and maintains employee incentives for increased aware of safety and environmental issues.
- Conducts the following administrative functions:
- Makes entries on the OSHA 300 log as necessary
- Completes a monthly report on the illness/injury rate, impact and reduction/increase, and corrective action taken to date.
- Develops and maintains training documentation for the organization/Company.
- Experience in Manufacturing environment, Health and Safety
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Industrial Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
