Finance Intern
As an American First Associate, you’ll play a vital role in serving the community while enjoying a rewarding career. We are a $1 Billion financial institution located in Orange County looking for finance intern with excellent customer service skills, initiative and a desire to work in a team setting.
The Finance internship provides a practical introduction to credit union finance by assisting with the collection, tracking, and organization of data used for financial reporting and analysis. A key responsibility will be the daily maintenance of internal financial dashboards to monitor credit union performance. This internship also offers an opportunity to learn about key financial regulatory processes by assisting with the data inputs and preparatory work for reserve calculations. The intern will gain exposure to core functions, including Asset/Liability Management (ALM), and will contribute to tracking key financial metrics for various business units.
Pay Range: $18.00 an hour
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial functions) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence and reporting.
- High level attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and achieve organizational goals.
- Familiarity with financial institution operations or the credit union movement preferred
Duties
- Support management in basic financial analysis tasks, including assisting with Asset/Liability Management (ALM), loss reserve calculations, and other related projects. Prepare basic graphical and financial presentations for internal teams.
- Assist in the creation of financial reports for various divisions, products, and services. Modify existing processes under guidance to support automation and improve the analytical value of financial reporting.
- Assist in researching methods to improve existing credit union products and processes, under the direction of department leadership.
- Track the development stages of new products and services and assist in gathering relevant financial information.
- Maintain departmental databases and research files containing information such as market indices, yield curves, competitive rate surveys, and economic data. Assist in maintaining pricing recommendations and administering rate comparison reports.
Schedule
Mon-Fri up to 29 hours a week.
