The Sales District Leader works to support, and assists the agency business owners in their role as independent contractors who possess the right of control over the manner and means by which they sell insurance and otherwise operate their businesses. Coaches and advises agency business owners on the strategy and execution of the district’s profit and growth plan. Establishes strong and influential business relationships with independent contractor agency business owners to assist them with building agencies that achieve profit, growth and customer satisfaction goals. Also serves as a liaison between American Family agency business owners and the organization by engaging agency business owners as separate business owners in corporate strategy and direction through effective communication.
Job Description:
Primary Accountabilities:
- Works to support and uphold the role of agency business owners as independent business owners. Ensures that agency business owners understand and make the connection between the corporate strategic plan and their practices and results; considers both corporate and agency needs when determining priorities.
- Provides guidance to agency business owners and staff by exhibiting influence and expertise. Coaches and advises agency business owners on sales results and execution of the state sales plan.
- Assists agency business owners in understanding the overall profit of the district, while preserving the agency business owners’ right to control the manner and means by which they sell insurance and otherwise run their own businesses.
- Monitors and manages the execution of company initiatives for the district as they pertain to individual independent agency business owners.
- Assists agency business owners as independent contractors in targeting and prioritizing the best sales activities and opportunities for them in their market and individual situation.
- Provides business knowledge and expertise to agency business owners to assist them in ensuring the successful operation of their businesses.
- Sources and selects agency business owners to fill openings.
- Builds strong relationship with agency business owners and staff, respecting their role as owners of their own businesses.
- Serves as the primary communication channel from American Family to agency business owners; provides cross-functional coordination when needed.
- Must have and maintain the appropriate insurance licenses in property, casualty, life, and health as required to do business with American Family and its alliances. Note: Obtaining a personal lines license does not fulfill the property and casualty license requirement.
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
- Basic knowledge and understanding of profit and growth measures.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting market data.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully coaching individuals to performance targets.
- Prior management or leadership experience in area(s) of accountability.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of how to run a successful business.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of sales processes and solution selling.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of financial concepts and principles.
- Valid driver's license required plus an acceptable driving record.
- This position requires travel up to 75% of the time.
