We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support clinical operations across various specialties, including dermatology, ER, urgent care, and outpatient services. This role involves providing exceptional patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring smooth administrative workflows within a fast-paced medical environment. Candidates with experience in urgent care settings, emergency medicine, or trauma centers are highly preferred. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality healthcare services while maintaining compliance with clinical protocols and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and documenting patient information accurately in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates
- Administer vaccines/injections, perform phlebotomy duties, perform audiogram and respirator fit testing
- Assist providers with clinical tasks such as medication administration, specimen collection, and basic life support (BLS) procedures
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures in outpatient, inpatient, or emergency settings
- Support physicians during X-ray procedures and other diagnostic tests as needed
- Manage ICD coding for diagnoses to ensure proper documentation and billing processes
- Assist with patient education on treatment plans, medication usage, and follow-up care
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols including cleaning and restocking exam rooms
- Provide administrative support including appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, patient wellness check and managing patient flow efficiently
- Dispenses medications and appliances as ordered by the treating Physician
- Monitor inventory
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Maintain and operate all medical devices, equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
- Be able to answer phone calls and be cross-trained to perform Front Office duties
- Be flexible in taking on other duties as assigned by Center Administrator or Providers
Experience
- Prior experience in urgent care, or outpatient clinics for at least 2 years is highly desirable
- Must be capable of working independently. Externs or candidates with only externship experience and no professional work experience are not eligible.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration is essential
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical-surgical procedures is required
- Availability on weekends and evening is required
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
