Job Summary
American English College is hiring experienced ESL instructors to teach in our Leaders & Language Summer Camp (ages 11–15).
This role is specifically for working with ELD (English Language Development) students—including multilingual learners, newcomers, and students developing academic English.
We are not looking for traditional lecture-style teaching. We are seeking educators who use a communicative, student-centered approach, where students are actively speaking, interacting, and using English throughout the lesson.
Program Overview
Students:
- Build real-world English communication skills
- Gain confidence speaking in class

- Learn through projects, collaboration, and presentations
Position Details
- Program Dates: June 8 – August 13, 2026
- Schedule: Monday – Thursday
- Full Day: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Half Day Options Available
Training: Paid onboarding prior to program start
Responsibilities
- Teach ESL/ELD to students ages 11–15 (Grades 6–11 equivalent)
- Deliver communicative, student-centered lessons focused on language use
- Design and facilitate project-based, theme-driven instruction
- Lead interactive activities, group work, and presentations
- Support students in building confidence, fluency, and participation
- Adapt lessons for varying English proficiency levels
- Maintain structured, engaging classroom management
Ideal Candidate
- Know how to teach students who are learning English—not already fluent
- Prioritize student speaking time and interaction
- Can make lessons accessible, engaging, and confidence-building
- Understand the needs of immigrant and multilingual students
- Balance structure energy in a classroom setting
Qualifications (Required)
- Minimum 2 year of ESL / ELD teaching experience (Required)
- Experience working with K–12 multilingual learners (not general education only)
- Understanding of the difference between teaching English speakers vs. teaching English learners developing language proficiency
- Experience using Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) or similar approach
- Ability to create interactive, project-based lessons
- Strong ability to teach grammar in context (not lecture-heavy)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching newcomer or ELD students in U.S. or international settings
- Background in Intensive English Programs or ESL academies
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
