About the Role
American Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer (PE) to join our Charlotte office. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a leadership position, enjoys mentoring others, and is passionate about delivering high-quality transportation design projects.
You will play a key role in leading roadway design efforts, managing projects, and contributing to the continued growth of our Transportation practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of roadway and transportation projects
- Manage projects from planning through final delivery, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget alignment
- Provide technical oversight and perform quality control reviews
- Mentor and support junior engineers and design staff
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Assist with client management and support business development initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 15 years of experience in roadway/transportation design and project management
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver completed projects
- Ability to work on-site in the Charlotte, NC office
- Willingness to relocate or commute as needed
