Position Summary:
This position will be part of the Advanced Distribution Studies team, a part of Distribution’s Modeling and Analysis Department. Position will be remote.
The Advanced Distribution Studies team’s core functions include, but are not limited to,
- Management and upkeep of software applications owned by and critical to the Distribution Planning and Analysis function and AEP’s operating companies, including CYME, DGP, and CSII.
- Execution of automated system analyses in support of the Distribution Planning and Analysis functions, and identifying processes that can be automated to improve efficiency.
- Execution of software/analytics applications roadmap for the Distribution Planning and Analysis function, in alignment with other AEP stakeholders.
- Provide support for distribution model development and integration activities with the Transmission Planning, Integrated Resource Planning, and Economic forecasting teams.
- Responsible for distribution planning model development, maintenance, and enhancement activities.
- Perform short circuit analysis to check for the duty on station equipment or facilitate access to system equivalents
- Reviewing, improving, and maintaining Distribution Planning Criteria and the load forecasting processes and methodology, and ensuring communication to all stakeholders.
- Work to implement hosting capacity analysis across the AEP system.
- Document, screen, enhance, and maintain Non-Wire Alternatives template / calculations for planning projects.
- Work to enhance / improve project prioritization processes and methodology across all operating companies.
- Developing training materials for software applications and onboarding for Distribution Planning and Analysis functions.
- IRR routing access approvals for Distribution and minimal support duties.
