CDL A Local Grocery Delivery Driver - Day Shift

Most grocery jobs throw new drivers straight into city traffic. Here you learn the Hudson Valley first, and you only run New York City after 6 months on the account and training with a certified NYC trainer. We are hiring local CDL A drivers based out of Chester, NY.

Pay and Schedule Breakdown

• Average Earnings: drivers on this account have averaged $83,600 to $87,600 a year over the last 6 to 12 months, based on seniority
• Mileage: $0.68 to $0.74 per mile
• Stop Pay: $28.50 to $30 per stop, plus $62.50 per load into New York City
• Detention: $15 per hour
• Holiday Pay: 6 paid holidays at $280 per day
• New Hire Training: $200 per day
• Schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 9 AM to 1 PM start times, plus 2 paid 6th days per month, mostly around the 6 major holidays
• Holidays Off: Thanksgiving and Christmas
  
  
  

The Work

• Freight: fresh and frozen groceries in 48 to 53 foot reefer trailers to supermarkets and distribution centers
• Area: Hudson Valley, New Jersey and Connecticut, with Long Island and NYC after training, plus backhauls that can reach into Pennsylvania
• Daily Routine: 2 loads a day or one long load, about 15 or more stops per week
• Backhauls: pick up return product at the last stop or a backhaul to the distribution center
• Other Accounts: 2 to 3 days per week helping nearby accounts, where you may unload with a pallet jack (training provided)
• Equipment: automatic and manual day cabs, shared with a driver on the opposite shift and kept at the account

Requirements

• At least 21 years old with a valid Class A CDL
• 3 months verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last 6 months with one carrier, 6 months in the last 12 months, or 12 months in the last 5 years
• Reliable personal transportation to the account every day
• Good customer service skills, since you deliver straight to store teams
• No more than 2 moving violations and no careless or reckless driving in the last 3 years
• No DUI/DWI in the last 5 years and no major preventable accidents in the last 3 years
• Must pass hair and urine drug testing
