What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL-A Driver - First Job After CDL School - Home Every Two Weeks position at American Driver?
The first year after CDL school decides whether you stay in trucking. A good first carrier pays you while you learn, puts a patient mentor beside you, and does not bury you with miles you are not ready for. This fleet hires from Mountain Home, Boise and the Treasure Valley, runs the states west of the Mississippi, and brings drivers home every two weeks. Experienced drivers are welcome too.
Key numbers
Orientation takes two days or less and pays $300 once you are hired. Bus travel to orientation is reimbursed with a receipt. Then you ride with a mentor and haul real freight. You learn trip planning, hours of service and backing at real docks. Your training check arrives every week. When your mentor signs off, you take your own truck.
Experienced Drivers
With 6 months or more of recent experience, you skip training and start solo. Your mileage rate follows your verifiable experience. Same lanes, same home time.
The lanes
Dry van freight across all states west of the Mississippi. Mostly drop and hook and preloaded trailers, with some live loads. Northern winters mean real snow driving, and the fleet plans around it. Stops pay $15, and any unload that is required is paid.
Living on the road
Medical, prescription, dental and vision plans. A 401(k), stock purchase plan, life and disability insurance, and an employee assistance program. Full-time drivers and one dependent can earn an online college degree with tuition covered.
Requirements
Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or veteran status.
