The Food Purchasing Supervisor is a shore-based management role with occasional travel to ships. This position is responsible for overseeing the purchasing program for food, wine, liquor, and hotel consumables, ensuring strict adherence to budgetary guidelines. The supervisor manages vendor relationships and leads a team of shore-side purchasing coordinators to maintain efficient and cost-effective procurement operations.
- Oversees food purchasing program.
- Purchasing and procurement of food, alcohol, and restaurant supplies.
- Generate purchase orders.
- Provide on time delivery to ships.
- Negotiates prices, contracts, rebates, and other purchasing programs with vendors.
- Manages and maintains food budget.
- Ensures purchases do not exceed budget.
- Coordinates and assists with food purchasing strategy, logistics, and oversight of food vendors.
- Ensures Chefs maintain proper food inventory.
- Ensures all dietary requirements, food allergies, and other special requests ingredients are ordered.
- Provides weekly summary of all special passenger requests.
- Minimum 5 years’ corporate food purchasing experience at a full-service hotel, resort, or cruise ship.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
- Available for occasional travel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Power Point.
- Superior time management.
- Superior proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage and solve problems.
- Sense of urgency in all passenger, crew, and home office requests.
- Positive attitude and receptive to continuous performance feedback.
This position involves occasional travel, with up to 10% dedicated to visits aboard ships.
