About the Role:
The Project Engineer plays a critical role in the successful planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects by integrating technical expertise with project management principles. This position is responsible for overseeing the design and development phases, ensuring that all engineering specifications and client requirements are met with precision and efficiency. The Project Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including design, procurement, and construction, to coordinate project activities and resolve any technical challenges that arise. A key outcome of this role is the delivery of high-quality project deliverables on time and within budget, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Ultimately, the Project Engineer ensures that projects progress smoothly from concept through to completion, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in project engineering or a similar role within the engineering or construction industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to produce and interpret detailed shop drawings.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including cost estimation and change order processes.
- Familiarity with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with advanced engineering design software beyond AutoCAD.
- Background in managing large-scale or complex engineering projects.
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and review detailed engineering designs and shop drawings using AutoCAD to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
- Prepare and manage cost estimations and budgets, including tracking change orders and assessing their impact on project scope and finances.
- Coordinate project activities by liaising with internal teams, contractors, and clients to maintain clear communication and alignment on project goals.
- Utilize Microsoft Project to create, update, and monitor project schedules, ensuring timely completion of milestones and deliverables.
- Identify potential risks and technical issues during project execution and implement effective solutions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.
Skills:
The Project Engineer applies AutoCAD daily to create and refine precise engineering drawings that serve as the foundation for project execution.
