Candidates must have current miner certification, either class A or B Mine Foreman Certification, and current Mine Foreman retraining. We ask copies of training and cards are attached with resume.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides first level supervision to a crew of employees responsible for production of coal at the face.
- Responsible for providing a safe work area and maximum productivity on their crew.
- Works closely with the Shift Foreman to follow the mine plan. Must also work closely with the Maintenance Supervisors in coordinating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the equipment.
- Responsible for completing daily time records and maintaining daily records of production and other information needed by the Shift Foreman.
- Must be able to motivate crewmembers for a high production rate and lower accident rate than the industry average.
- Responsible for teaching new employees the correct operating techniques of the equipment and proper safety habits while working underground.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three (3) years coal mining experience
- Minimum one (1) year of production experience
- Excellent leadership and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Thorough knowledge of general mining practices, and State and Federal mining laws
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Previous proven underground supervisory experience - strong leadership ability
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to successfully complete industry approved training courses
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and the knowledge and ability to make decisions relative to safety, production, maintenance, and law
- State issued Underground Miner certification required
- State issued Underground Mine Foreman certification, preferred
- Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
- Must be able to successfully pass a post-offer drug test and background check
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
Job Schedule and Physical Demands
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
- Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule (subject to the applicant’s religious practices)
- Must be able to work in an underground mining environment
- Ability to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
- Ability to push/pull as needed
- Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
- Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50 pounds as needed
