Permitting Engineer

This position will plan, direct, and control all environmental permitting for multiple underground mines, surface mines, preparation plants, and refuse disposal facilities located in Pennsylvania and West Virginia to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and laws associated to the mining industry; including, but not limited to: federal SMCRA and CWA, and CAA. This work requires a well-organized individual equipped with the ability and skills to independently complete the preparation of permit applications, a working knowledge of regulatory requirements, interaction with regulatory agencies, consultants, and mine personnel. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAbility to communicate effectively Coordinate with operations and management to ensure accurate and timely permit issuance.Direct, assemble, review and submit permit applications through the approval and issuance process. Coordinate with internal Departments for necessary permit items such as Land/Legal surface & mineral control, Mine Management and Engineering for mine plans, etc.Develop working relationships and interface with appropriate contacts within the regulatory agenciesUpdate the company approved permit status tracking list for internal management review.Maintain internal permit files per management’s approved filing protocol. Provided regulatory guidance, site design input and estimated permit timing to the Production and Project Engineers. Direct and manage external consultants as needed. Salary : $69,600 - $89,700
