ACNR, Inc. requires trained, dedicated, and talented employees to efficiently repair and maintain equipment. The position reports to the Master Mechanic.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Entry level mining mechanic trainees participate in a maintenance training program; objective of the program is to develop future mine mechanics
- The maintenance trainee will be required to achieve competency in electrical, hydraulics, welding and mechanical fundamentals
- The maintenance trainee will perform a variety of duties, which include performing physical tasks and using tools
- Job duties will be performed in underground and surface environments
- Training program is anticipated to last approximately (1) one year.
- All required training will be provided
- Must possess effective critical thinking and comprehension skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks
- Possess a strong attention to detail
- Visually inspect work area for potential hazards
- Perform methane checks
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to communicate with all levels of mine management and co-workers
- Additional details on program if selected for formal interview
EXPERIENCE:
- Field experience as an electrician, welder, auto mechanic, or similar is preferred, but not required
- Solid mechanical aptitude is required
- Completed courses of vocational study in electrical, mechanical, welding, and mining programs is preferred, but not required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 years of age
- Reliable transportation
- High School diploma or GED, required
- WV Experienced Miners Card/ Black Hat Card is required.
- Candidate will need to successfully pass the mechanical aptitude test
- Must be able to work as scheduled and arrive to the worksite promptly to receive work assignment and prepare for the start of the shift
- Must be able to understand and grasp mining concepts and safety strategies
- Must be able to pass post offer drug test and background check
- Must be able to successfully complete industry approved training courses
- Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
JOB SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
- Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule (subject to the applicant’s religious practices)
- Ability to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
- Ability to push/pull as needed
- Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
- Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50 pounds as needed
