American Conservation Experience (ACE) - Flagstaff, AZ
Join American Conservation Experience (ACE) in Flagstaff, Arizona, for a 300- hour, 450-hour or 900- hour AmeriCorps conservation term.

Schedule
Schedules vary, typically:
- 8 days on / 6 days off, or
- 4 days on / 3 days off
Remote projects may span multiple cycles, with off-days near the project site.
Position Overview
Serve on professionally supervised crews completing:
- Habitat restoration
- Trail construction and maintenance
- Reforestation and forest thinning
- Invasive species removal
- Fencing and plant identification
Members gain experience with hand tools, restoration equipment, and power tools (including chainsaws) while working alongside agency partners such as the National Park Service, the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
Professional Development
Participation in ACE's LEAF (Lead, Educate, and Facilitate) Program is required and includes:
- A professional meeting with ACE staff
- Facilitating a conservation lesson
- Two monthly professional development or community engagement events
Qualifications
Required:
- US citizen or permanent resident
- Willingness to work outdoors in challenging conditions
- Ability to hike long distances, carry up to 60 lbs., and perform 10-hour work days
- Pass a criminal history check
Preferred:
- Hiking/navigation experience
- Interest in conservation careers
- Community involvement experience
Work Environment
Physically demanding outdoor work in varied and sometimes extreme weather (below freezing to 100°F ), rough terrain, and high-noise environments. Domestic travel required.
