As a Clinical Pharmacist, the caregiver will work in a centralized or decentralized capacity. If working in a centralized capacity they will ensure medications are selected, prepared, and dispensed accurately and safely, supporting timely and compassionate patient care. Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams, the caregiver will help optimize medication therapy and contribute to positive patient outcomes. A caregiver in this role will spend approximately 75–80% of their time primarily staffed in the new Neurological Building Inpatient Pharmacy, with opportunities to rotate into other areas, including the Main Campus Inpatient Pharmacy. If working in a decentralized capacity a caregiver will work primarily as part of a clinical service-based team, such as Stroke, General Neurology, Epilepsy, or Neurosurgery.

A caregiver in this role will work day shift Monday through Friday, with a rotating evening week shifts every 8th week. Every 8th weekend requirement. One holiday per year.

A Caregiver Who Excels In This Role Will

• Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services.
• Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
• Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
• Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards.
• Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.
• Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications For The Ideal Future Caregiver Include

• PharmD or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days (for individuals required to administer immunizations) 
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. For caregivers required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest, this is required within one year of hire
  
  

Preferred Qualifications For The Ideal Future Caregiver Include

• Board certification
• Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or 2 years of relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
• Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience for Clinical Pharmacists hired in Critical Care or Pharmacotherapy
• 3-4 years of direct critical care experience
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
• Must have normal or corrected vision.
• Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
