ACP is offering an offshore wind internship which will last approximately 14 weeks from Tuesday September 2nd through Friday December 19th (dates can be somewhat flexible within reason around school schedules). There is a preference for the intern to work out of our Washington, DC headquarters but remote applicants will be considered as well.

Internship is paid $20/hour on a semimonthly pay schedule. It is anticipated that you will work approximately 15 hours per week with the exception of the Offshore Wind Conference (first week of October, see below) where additional hours and in-person work (in Boston) will be required – travel costs will be covered by ACP.

Position Overview

The Offshore Wind Intern will support and assist the Offshore Wind Team to promote and engage with federal and state offshore wind policy initiatives. This intern will work cross-functionally with other members of the communications, research, state affairs, and federal affairs teams on a regular basis to communicate and advance offshore wind interests.

Duties and responsibilities for the position will reflect the evolving policy landscape impacting offshore wind deployment, including:

  • Supporting the offshore wind team in person at our Conference and Offshore Wind Council (OWC) in person meeting in Boston October 5- 8, 2025. This includes:
    • Travel to Boston Sunday Oct 5th
    • Onsite October 6, taking notes at the 3-hour OWC meeting (creating the PowerPoint for the meeting, helping prepare the documents for the OWC, preparing folders, keeping attendance for the meeting, and other logistics)
    • Onsite Oct 7-8 supporting and participating in the OWC Conference, programming and tours
  • Monitoring offshore wind news and helping write sections of the biweekly ACP offshore wind newsletter.
  • Policy research and writing projects on permitting reform, state manufacturing, offshore wind development reform, and federal agencies relevant to offshore wind.
  • Assisting in administrative tasks as needed, such as sending committee emails, uploading documents to the member portal, and taking notes at subcommittee meetings.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills

Preferred applicants should be an undergraduate student in their junior or senior year attending an accredited university currently seeking to major or minor in a field related to renewable energy, public policy, business, law or pre-law or have experience working in state and/or federal policy implementation or advocacy. Students in a graduate student or post-undergraduate program with similar majors or focus areas are encouraged to apply.

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Excellent project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend and carry out solutions. 
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all organizational levels, as well as the knowledge and ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Provide excellent, timely and proactive customer service. 
  • Ability to travel to Boston, MA for the ACP Offshore Wind Council meeting and Offshore WindPower Conference October 6-8 (travel costs covered by ACP).

Job Conditions

This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
